[…] Private equity investing, often referred to as buyout investing, is also distinct from venture capital investment. Whereas venture capital investing involves investing in a company during the earliest stages of its development, private equity investing typically targets small, medium, or large-sized businesses that are already established, but not usually publicly traded.
