Security Notice: Road Closures in Rome for UN Conference at the Food and Agriculture Office, June 3-5, 2008

Security, Traffic and Parking

Traffic and Parking will be difficult this week in Rome because of the UN conference at the Food and Agriculture Office. Moreover, there will be a number of world leaders attending which will necessitate road closures and other security measures.

The following road closures are reported to be in effect in Rome from Tuesday, 3 June and until midnight Thursday, 5 June 2008:

1. Via del Circo Massimo

2. Viale delle Terme di Caracalla - from Piazza di Porta Capena to Piazzale Numa Pompilio

3. Viale Guido Baccelli - from Largo delle Vittime del Terrorismo to Largo Fiorito

4. Via Antonina

5. Via della Fonte di Fauno

6. Via Licinia

7. Via Valle delle Camene

8. Via Aventina

9. Viale Aventino - however, the central lanes might be kept open for public transport and for shuttle buses from Piramide.

Public Transport

The underground railway station (Metro) at FAO Circo Massimo will be closed from 3-5 June 2008 for security reasons. Underground trains will continue to service the “Colosseo” and “Piramide” stations, as well as the other Line B stations. Line A will not be affected.

Taxi stands will be positioned at the beginning of Via dei Cerchi.
