Demonstration Notice: Street Closures and Demonstration on May 30, 2009 in Rome

American citizens are advised there is a demonstration planned for tomorrow afternoon and there continue to be road closures today because of the Justice Ministerial.

The following streets are closed until after the Justice Ministerial: Piazza Gentile da Fabriano, Via Guido Reni, Via del Vignola, Piazza Melozzo da Forlì, Via Giovanni Paolo Pannini, Via Andrea Bregno, Via Piero della Francesca, and Via dei Camporese.

The route for tomorrow’s demonstration regarding immigration issues starts at Piazza di Porta Maggiore and takes the following route ending in Piazza Navona.

*Via dello Statuto
*Via Merulana
*Via Labicana
*Via Celio Vibena
*Via di San Gregorio
*Via dei Cerchi
*Piazza Bocca della Verita’
*Via Luigi Petroselli
*Via del Teatro Marcello
*Via delle Botteghe Oscure
*Via Florida
*Largo Argentina
*Corso Vittorio
*Piazza San Pantaleo
*Via della Cuccagna
*Piazza Navona

The demonstration begins at 1400 and the Embassy does not currently know the end time. Police are expecting 10 to 20 thousand people. American citizens should consider avoiding the route for the demonstration on May 30.
