Demonstration in Siracusa, Sicily, Italy – April 24

The U.S. Embassy in Rome has learned that over 5,000 persons are estimated to participate in a demonstration in the Italian city of Syracuse (Siracusa) on April 24, 2009. The protest coincides with the G-8 Environmental Ministers meeting currently taking place in Siracusa April 22, 2009 thru April 24, 2009. American citizens should consider avoiding visiting the city during the planned protest to lessen the possibility of confrontations.
